A common issue with ST's that are hosted is that there is no restriction on who can join them. This results in players with 8 or less SP forced to face reoccurring players ranking in at over 300+ SP. This allows a huge gap in player skill to occur causing veteran players to steamroll over new contestants over and over never allowing a good fraction of players to ever earn their 8 SP.

I know SP itself doesn't strictly speak for your level of skill but there is no denying that its a factor. Getting right to the point there have been rare ST's in the past that were strictly just for winning items and not SP. This is actually a good system to separate the ST types because when asked about this subject most players responded with "Players with high SP keep rejoining those tournaments for the items and not the SP."

In short I think it would be beneficial to everyone if there were ST's held for certain categories such as: "7 SP or below players only", "8 SP or higher players only", "Item only prizes" etc.

STs are small enough as it is. You really don't need to be a good YGO player to top in a DMG ST. Bad (read: awful) players are not supposed to win competitive tournaments and we shouldn't limit the player pool to cater for these people.

its a tournament... if you're not good or atleast not trying to improve you will not win. Plus when you have around 16 players per ST ,when you limit it to say players who only have 30 sp or less, you wont have enough players to do anything.

Additionally, the times we've had STs that don't allow people with high star counts...

You simply had the same players on their alts. It's a waste of time to try; if you want to win STs and you can't beat people who have high SP counts; follow Vaj's advice and get better.

End of first episode of Arc V should have gone like this -- "Wait, did you just summon a bunch of monsters in 1 turn?" "Yeah, so?" "Well, isn't that against the rules?" "SCREW THE RULES I MAKE UP CARD MECHANICS WITH MY PENDANT"
