Recently, some new rules were added to the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game, and we'll be using them throughout the game and especially in Star Tournaments, with the exception of the First-Turn Draw rules for Tag Duels and FFA. This guide serves as a rundown of the rules and how they will be implemented in the game.

First-Turn Draw Rule

The First-Turn Draw Rule states that an extra card will not be drawn by the first-turn player of the duel. Previously, the player who went first would draw their opening hand of 5 cards, and then draw an extra to have 6. Now the rule has been changed to eliminate that extra draw.

In normal duels
During the first turn of the duel, the player who goes first will not draw an extra card (therefore each player will have an opening hand of 5).

In Tag Duels
Official: During the first turn cycle of the duel, the first person to go on each team will not draw an extra card (therefore each player will have an opening hand of 5). Their partner will draw when their first turn comes, however.

DMG: During the first turn cycle of the duel, the player who goes first will not draw an extra card (therefore each player will have an opening hand of 5). Every other player will draw normally in the first turn cycle.

In FFAs
Official: The first three players start with 5 cards in their hand, and the player who goes fourth will draw an extra (having a hand of 6 after their Draw Phase).

DMG: The first player starts with 5 cards in their hand, and the remaining players will draw normally during the first turn cycle.

New Field Spell Rule

The new Field Spell rule states that both players in a duel can control Field Spells. In addition, Field Spells are sent to the Graveyard, rather than destroyed, when the controlling player activates another one.

In normal duels
Both players can activate Field Spells. If a player is controlling a Field Spell and activates a new one, the previous one is sent to the Graveyard.

In Tag Duels
Each team member can control 1 Field Spell of their own. If a player is controlling a Field Spell and activates a new one, the previous one is sent to the Graveyard.

In FFAs
Each individual player can control a Field Spell. If a player is controlling a Field Spell and activates a new one, the previous one is sent to the Graveyard.

We dont apply this rules, since we dont follow any official rule for Tag Duels or FFAs, we always since the rule was added to the game, turn 1 player dont draw and the others yes.

Updated the opening post to accurately reflect DMG's first-turn-drawing rules for Tag/FFA, but still left in the official rules for anyone who decides to play one way or another.
