Major Rule Changes Coming:

The player going first cannot draw on the first turn!

Both players can both have a Field Spell Card on the field, simultaneously!

The text for Official Card Game cards will be made easier to read!

EDIT: You can note that the cards from the new Starter Deck have their effects numbered.

These new rules take effect for the Official Card Game starting March 21st, 2013, when the Starter Deck comes out!

....whats the point of calling them "field cards " now ?

the first turn rule seems like it will be hard to get used to

which decks will still choose to go first ?

It's still statistically viable to go first with a five card hand and drop whatever you want on the first time. It just widens the gap between Tier 1 and Tier 2.

I dunno depends on how the Non drawing first turn is ruled.

Right now t's worded so that you can't even draw with card effects such as Upstart or Card Car "D"
R.I.P. Fishborg Blaster. Making Shooting Quasar Dragon every turn since 1962.

They are learning from other card game mechanics that players who goes first should be penalized. You probably just skip draw phrase and proceed as normal. In my opinion, its a very good and balanced change. Not too major but well needed

You actually still go into the draw phase, you just don't draw.

It's not that relevant now, but they could always print something later:

(You don't have a Battle Phase or Main Phase 2 in the first turn of a duel, in case you don't get it.)
